Workplace Mediation

Situations of conflict can present themselves at any time, anywhere, and the workplace is no exception. A workforce is made up of different people, with a variety of interests and ideals. In such a situation, it is almost inevitable that, sooner or later, members of staff will be involved in a disagreement which may affect work and working relationships.

As a result, such disagreements could result in deterioration in communication, other employees may be expected to take sides, management time and effort are dedicated to trying to resolve the disagreement, formal proceedings may be instigated and future working relationships may be irreparably damaged.

Mediation offers the opportunity for both sides to be listened to and heard, to re-establish communication and to agree on how the current situation can be resolved. It is a voluntary process, informal yet structured, and takes place away from the participants' work area. Where people really want to sort out their differences, there is a very good chance that an agreement can be reached, either written or verbal, that could lead to a positive future.
